Privacy Policy

Date Your Coworker (“we”, “us”) is a dating app for people who work at the same company. This page says what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to get it deleted. The short version: your employer can’t see any of it, we don’t sell it, and there are no ads or trackers.

What we collect

  • Your work email. It’s how you sign in and how we know which company you work at. It’s never shown to anyone in the app.
  • Your profile: display name, job title, team, office, bio, and the photos you take or add.
  • Your gender and who you want to see. We use these only to decide whose deck you appear in. Together they can say something about your sexual orientation, so we treat them as sensitive: they are never shown on your profile and never used for anything else.
  • What you do in the app: who you pass on, connect with or send a Warm Intro to, your matches, and the messages you send.
  • People you block. We store a scrambled (hashed) form of the address plus its first letter, so we can keep you apart without keeping their address in readable form.
  • Reports. When you report someone, your account, theirs, what you wrote and, if you report from a chat, the last 20 messages of that chat are sent to our inbox for a person to review.
  • Waitlist and referrals. If your company isn’t open yet, we keep your address on its waitlist. If a coworker refers you, we keep your address so we never email you about it twice, and so an opt-out sticks.
  • Technical data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for a short time. We keep a daily visitor count (see “No tracking” below). Your browser keeps a sign-in cookie and a note of which tips you’ve dismissed.

We don’t ask for your birthday, your location, or anything about your employer’s business.

Who can see what

  • Your profile and photos are visible only to signed-in people with an email at the same company. Photos are stored privately and served through short-lived links.
  • Messages are visible only to the two people in the match.
  • Your employer, and anyone outside your company, can’t see that you’re here.
  • Coworkers aren’t told when you pass, hide, block or report them, and they’re never told who referred them.

Who handles it for us

We don’t sell or rent your information, or share it with advertisers. These services run the app for us and only process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage.
  • Resend: sending email.
  • Vercel: hosting.

We’ll also disclose information if the law requires it, or if we believe it’s needed to protect someone’s safety.

Emails

We send sign-in codes, one waitlist confirmation, one email when your company opens, and, if a coworker refers you, one letter. Every email except the sign-in code has a one-click unsubscribe, and it takes effect right away.

No tracking

There’s no analytics service, session recording, advertising pixel or third-party script on the site, and fonts are served from our own domain. To know roughly how many people visit, we count unique visitors from the US each day. For that we store a one-way code made from your IP address and the date, never the address itself, and set no cookie. The code is different every day, so your visits can’t be linked from one day to the next, and we delete the counts after 30 days. If we ever want more than that, we’ll ask first and update this page.

How long we keep it

  • Your account stays until you delete it. Deleting it (Settings, “Hand in my notice”) immediately removes your profile, photos, matches, messages, blocks, referrals and your sign-in.
  • Waitlist addresses stay until you leave the list or ask us to remove them.
  • Opt-outs are kept for good, so we can keep honoring them.
  • Reports are kept as long as we need them to deal with the issue and keep people safe.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile or delete your account at any time in Settings. To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete something you can’t delete yourself (including if you’re not a user and want your address removed), email hr@dateyourcoworker.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws like the GDPR or the CCPA. We’ll honor them.

Age

Date Your Coworker is only for adults 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 is using it, report their profile or email us and we’ll remove the account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll say so in the app before it applies.
